Cassino Topped iTunes Singer/Songwriter Chart with 'Kingprince'

Nashville-based Cassino's sophomore album, Kingprince, was released digitally this past November, and reached #1 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter Chart. It also reached as high as #76 in iTunes' Top 100 Albums.

The album has just been released physically, and is available for purchase online through MerchDirect.com. With its beautiful melodies and thoughtful lyrics, Kingprince is an album that is not to be missed.

Cassino is made up of Nick Torres, formerly of the rock group Northstar, and long-time friend Edward Puckett. Originally a collaboration between Torres and Northstar band mate Tyler Odom, Cassino released its debut album, Sounds of Salvation, in early 2007. The record was declared a "complete triumph" by Absolutepunk.net, and Cassino worked to build up its fan base in the following year, touring the US in support of the release. After returning home in 2008, Torres and Puckett began working on and writing a collection of songs that they would record themselves in their own apartment throughout 2009.

Kingprince is certainly the result of hard work, persistence, and a strong do-it-yourself mentality, but more importantly, it serves as an example of the exceptional quality that can be achieved when a group of incredibly talented individuals come together. The album includes contributions from some of Nashville's most skilled players, who compliment the foundation set by Torres and Puckett for twelve perfectly-arranged tracks. Kingprince layers together a lot of interesting sounds, created by instruments like the harmonica, violin, mandolin, banjo, and organ. Cassino has managed to put together an album that is truly unique, especially in today's often predictable music scene. From start to finish, Kingprince is captivating and meaningful, giving audiences something new to discover with each listen.
